Common Delegation Traps on the NCLEX

The classic traps: stable wording, scope creep, time pressure.

Most delegation errors on NCLEX come from misreading 'stable' or assuming scope.

Trap 1: stable wording

Question says 'stable' but vitals are abnormal. Patient is not stable, stays with RN.

Trap 2: scope creep

UAP can take vitals, but cannot interpret. RN reviews UAP-collected data and makes clinical decisions.

Trap 3: time pressure as justification

Being busy doesn't justify delegating outside scope. The answer is to escalate to charge nurse, not delegate inappropriately.
