How many practice questions per day for the NCLEX?
Daily question counts by runway, and the metric that matters more than volume: review depth.
Question volume is a means, not an end. The number per day depends on your runway and what you do with the wrong answers.
By runway
1 week: 100-120/day. 2-3 weeks: 75-100/day. 4-6 weeks: 50-75/day. 8-12 weeks: 40-60/day. 12+ weeks: 30-50/day.
The metric that matters more
Reviewed wrong answers per day. A question you got wrong and didn't analyze is screen time, not study time. Plan for at least 2-3 minutes per wrong answer reviewing rationale and noting the failure mode. If you do 75 questions and get 40% wrong, that's 30 wrong × 3 min = 90 min of review on top of the questions. Plan accordingly.
Diminishing returns
Past 100 questions per day, fatigue dominates. Accuracy drops. Recall of patterns drops. Three 30-question sessions across the day outperforms one 90-question marathon.
Frequently asked
Should I do more if I'm behind?
Quality over volume. Adding 30 more questions to an already exhausted brain produces worse results than calling it a day and starting fresh tomorrow.
What if I miss a day?
Don't double the next day. Resume at normal pace. Doubling produces accuracy crashes that erode confidence and don't recover the missed day.
