NGN Case Study: Prioritization Walkthrough
Multi-patient prioritization case study.
Multi-patient cases test prioritization frameworks under NGN format.
Setting
4 patients on a med-surg floor. Pick who to see first, what to do for each.
Patients
Patient A: stable, asking for pain med. Patient B: post-op day 1, BP dropped to 88/52. Patient C: COPD, SpO2 89% on 2 L NC. Patient D: discharge teaching needed.
Prioritize
Patient B first (hypotension, post-op, unstable). Then C (hypoxia). Then A (comfort, can delegate pain assessment to charge if needed). D last (stable, can wait).
Actions for Patient B
Assess. Vitals. Trendelenburg or position. IV fluid bolus. Notify provider. Possible bleeding workup (Hgb, CT).
