Nursing School Red Flags: How to Spot a Degree Mill

Warning signs: no accreditation, aggressive sales, no clinical, promises too good.

Some 'nursing programs' are degree mills. Specific red flags.

Red flags

No CCNE/ACEN accreditation. No clinical hour requirements. Aggressive sales calls. Guaranteed acceptance. Faculty without nursing credentials. Promises of fast completion (e.g., 'BSN in 6 months').

How to verify

Check accreditation on CCNE.org or ACEN.org. Verify state BON approval. Check NCLEX pass rate on NCSBN site.

Avoid debt for fake credentials

Non-accredited programs leave you ineligible for licensure and graduate school.
