aPTT: heparin monitoring, intrinsic pathway, target ranges.
aPTT measures intrinsic and common pathways. Used to monitor heparin.
Normal
25-35 seconds (lab-specific).
Heparin therapeutic
1.5-2× control (typically 60-80 seconds). Adjust per nomogram.
Prolonged aPTT (not on heparin)
Hemophilia (A or B), von Willebrand disease, lupus anticoagulant, liver disease, DIC.
Antidote for heparin
Protamine sulfate.

Significant. Hold heparin. Reduce rate when restart.
aPTT same as PTT?
Functionally yes. aPTT is the standardized version.
