The best free NCLEX resources in 2026
Free question banks, lecture videos, mnemonics, and study tools that are actually worth the time. Curated for 2026.
Free NCLEX resources exist and some are excellent. Here's what's worth your time, what to skip, and where free hits a wall.
Free question banks
NCSBN's NCLEX practice exam, 125 questions, $50 for a 30-day window. Not technically free but it's the official one. RegisteredNurseRN free quizzes, hundreds of free questions, decent quality. Nurse.com, free questions, mixed quality. Lecturio free trial, 7 days, some NCLEX content.
Free video lectures
RegisteredNurseRN YouTube, best free video resource for NCLEX-specific content. Sarah's videos are clear and NCLEX-targeted. Mike Linares / SimpleNursing free videos, some free intro content, paywall after. NCLEX High Yield YouTube, varied creator quality but useful for specific topics.
Free mnemonic resources
Reddit r/NCLEX, student-shared mnemonics, organized by topic in pinned threads. NurseLabs.com, free study guides, organized by category.
Where free hits a wall
Adaptive testing. Ready-date projections. Mistake-pattern engines. Full-length validated mocks. These require paid tools, UWorld, Kaplan, Archer, ATI, or Nursing Ready.
Frequently asked
Can I pass the NCLEX using only free resources?
Possible but harder. The friction of switching between five free tools costs prep time. Most students who pass with all-free took 1.5x the runway.
What's the highest-value paid add-on if I'm mostly using free?
A UWorld 30-day or Archer 30-day for question volume and a validated readiness assessment.
